The Operation Against Mayors İs A Provocation

The AKP is in collusion with the military. They are throwing Kurds that are independent into prison. The AKP is blocking the path of Kurds that want to participate in free-democratic politics, and they are using the military as an excuse. In other words they are saying to the Kurds ‘‘take refuge with me.’’
On the one hand they are eliminating Kurds, on the other they are buying off certain Kurds with money and other things and trying to bind them like this, this isn’t a democratic expansion. Against this, Kurds must realise the real democratic expansion and stand strong, for the whole of Turkey.

The Operation Against Mayors İs A Provocation

The police operation against Kurdish Mayors is in fact a provocation. The Kurdish people are organised against everything, they are protecting their unity. They will protect their organisations by all means and will demonstrate accordingly.

The police operation against Kurdish Mayors is in fact a provocation. The Kurdish people are organised against everything, they are protecting their unity. They will protect their organisations by all means and will demonstrate accordingly.

Democratic politics needs to organise differently, under various forms of organisation. For this they could organise under community centres, non-governmental organisations, and other such initiatives. The headquarters of the Democratic Society Congress is in Amed (Diyarbakır)… The Democratic Society Congress will be amongst the people, mainly amongst youth and women, and work in many areas ranging from politics to economy, from sport to arts and culture. There may be people in Istanbul who are in the DSC, but these people will be subordinate to Amed. The second circle is the Democratic Society Congress.

The third circle is the political party. This party must not just be the party of the Kurds, but the party of the whole of Turkey. Congresses could be conducted at local level and democratic discussions could be taken to all corners of the country to form a structure. I think it is very important that different circles and their groups join this party. They can come with their own opinions and ideas and a unity can be formed around common principles. I believe feminist groups, feminist circles, need to be in the party. Furthermore, environmental problems are also important. Environmentalists can also take their places in this party. Meetings could be conducted with many academics, intellectuals, different names and opinions within the framework of three principles. A broad circle of people and groups need to join the party. I believe that feminists, environmentalists and other strands of opinion need to take their places in the party with their own ideas. The political party needs to organise itself as the third circle all around Turkey. Honest Alevi circles and intellectuals also need to be included.

Common principles for the political party
The first common principle is The Democratic Republic. What I mean by this is the democratisation of the state.

The second common principle is The Democratic Homeland. I had defined it before as the Joint Homeland, what I mean by this is the land of this country. The homeland is still joint, but for the reality of different nations and ethnicities to be seen and accepted, I am calling it the democratic homeland.

The third common principle is The Democratic Nation. The democratic nation concept means the democratisation of the nation. What I mean by this is the plural (multiple) nation. This doesn’t just include Kurds and Turks; there are other ethnicities and minorities, there are plural cultures, plural identities and plural nationalities, we can call the synthesis and union of these things the democratic nation.

This exists in Spain. There isn’t just the Spanish nation in Spain, there is a joint homeland, there is Spain but there isn’t a state or mentality that enforces a single national identity and language. There is also a similar understanding in Britain. The single state, single nation mentality in Turkey is like a black hole. It swallows everything and eradicates it.

Kurds can become a democratic nation through the Democratic Society Congress. It is aimed at organising the Kurds democratically, democratising them and helping them become a nation democratically. That is why I am saying that the headquarters of the DSC is in Amed. This structure will especially organise in the area (Kurdistan). However the political party will be all around Turkey. The party programme will be suitable for this and deal with all of Turkey’s problems and the democratisation of the whole of Turkey; it needs to be Turkey’s party. I am suggesting that the party organise itself and determine its strategy according to these aims. This is the only way we can get rid of the speculative capitalism ravaging Anatolia. I have indicated the common principles that can include everyone. It can be organised within this framework.
I am a strategic leader, making sociological assessments, not giving directives, I would not find it right, it would not be right ethically or politically, I am just stating my views. Just like everyone else I also have the right to discuss things.

They have entered the Special Warfare Department; they are calling it the Cosmic Room… whenever the AKP conducts an operation against the Kurds, it immediately tries to create uncertainty amongst the Kurds by saying, ‘‘I want to take some steps but they are preventing me, the military is creating obstacles.’’

Whenever the Kurds are targeted with an operation something is done against the military as well, with this the operations against Kurds are covered up. They have also suppressed possible reactions with this move. An operation was carried out under the name of the KCK, this was a provocation but no one has raised their voice or discussed it.

I would like to convey my message for 2010 based on this. Political, economic and cultural genocide is being implemented against the Kurds. I know the Kurdish People are in a strong and organised resistance against this and I believe in them. To realise their freedom as a democratic nation they must mobilise with all their strength and organisations in 2010. I would like to emphasise once again that 2010 needs to be a year of great struggle. The attitude of the AKP and guerrilla will become clearer towards February 15th. I have done some things until now, we have brought it this far. However the government must see that it will not continue in this fashion. This is why I am saying that Turkish intellectuals must also see this and develop a joint struggle with the Kurds. Instead of being taken in by the AKP’s provocations they must uncover these plans and raise hell against them.’’
